Holiday Classes: 2nd July to 7th August
Performers Ballet Academy are excited to be running several classes and holiday programmes over the school holidays. We believe in dance! Join us on our journey.
Saturday Ballet, 9am - 10am for ages 3½ years +
Tots Ballet (3½ – 5 years old) focuses on letting your child have a fun & engaging time whilst learning basic coordination for their limbs, the concepts of classical ballet, movement, music appreciation, rhythm, and poise.
Saturday Ballet, 10am - 11am for ages 5 years +
Classes are focussed on building confidence and self-esteem in young children and actively fostering a love of dance. Your child not only starts learning basic ballet positions for the fingers, arms, and feet, but also are challenged to stretch and build more strength. Spins, skips and jumps are introduced, which are important for building strong foundations required for progress in the next few grades. Students will learn and practice steps that will be used for their presentation on Stage in November.
Saturday Ballet, 11am - 12pm for ages 7 years +
The use of the barre will be introduced at this level, followed by centre work and dance. Students develop proper alignment and classical techniques and are taught basic ballet barre exercises. Students continue to work on travelling and linking steps with an introduction to Grand Allegro and more complex turns. Awareness of technique and musicality continues for progression. Students will also learn set classical dances as well as character dances, which help them discover expression and performance style. Students will learn Coppelia and the Fairy Doll ballet variations over the school holidays
Sunday Ballet, 4pm - 5:30pm for ages 11 years +
Complex barre exercises, followed by centre work and both classical and character dances to be learned. Students will be challenged to work their best and learn to communicate expression and feeling with their movement. Increased stamina, concentration and discipline will be built as more emphasis is placed on detail and artistry. Point work is introduced by our Academy to selected groups of students. Students will learn the Big Swans part from Swan Lake
Sunday Contemporary, 5:30pm - 7pm for ages 12 years +
Contemporary dance strives to connect the mind and the body through fluid dance movements. This is a dominant genre of dance that is very much connected to students who want to purse their study in dance to a more advanced level or students who are 12 years old and over with a passion to explore more modern styles of dance. All well-known Ballet Companies today have a comprehensive contemporary-based repertoire. Students who are trained in classical ballet tend to switch to a variety of other dance styles with ease.
Wednesday Adult Ballet and Intermediate Ballet, 7pm to 8:30pm
Open classes – 29th June, 6th, 13th, 20th , 27th July and 3rd August
We welcome adults who enthusiastically embrace their love of ballet and are keen to challenge themselves. This class is tailored to students who have previously taken some basic ballet classes and are keen to take it to the next level. Adult Intermediate level students are very proud to take part in our annual ballet performances and class presentations.
